conversation took place between Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Russian Foreign
Minister Sergei Lavrov.
The two Foreign Ministers discussed bilateral relations and the regional situation during the talks and
discussed in detail the bilateral agenda and important issues of the region, including Afghanistan,
citing the recent visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the statement said. went.
According to the Foreign Office, Sergei Lavrov expressed deep sorrow and regret over the loss of
precious human lives in the terrorist attack in Peshawar yesterday and condemned all forms of
terrorism by Russia.
The Foreign Office spokesman said that the two Foreign Ministers agreed to continue working together
for the common goals of peace and stability in Afghanistan.
He said that the Foreign Minister, referring to Pakistan's concern over the situation in Ukraine, stressed
the need to reduce tensions in accordance with the basic principles of the UN Charter.
The Foreign Minister stressed the need for diplomatic settlement of the dispute in accordance with
multilateral agreements, international law and the UN Charter.
Regarding the tensions with Ukraine, Shah Mehmood Qureshi also mentioned the recent telephone
conversations between the Foreign Ministers of Ukraine, Poland, Romania and Hungary and the EU
High Representative for Foreign Affairs for a peaceful resolution of the conflict. Informed
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the talks initiated between Russia and Ukraine are expected to be
successful in finding a diplomatic solution.
