A senior US senator has called for the assassination of a Russian president.
Senior US Senator Lindsay Graham has demanded in a televised interview that "someone in Russia" assassinate President
Vladimir Putin after Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.
Speaking to Fox News host Sean Hannity, the US senator said, "How will this end? In Russia, for this to happen, someone
has to go out. He later reiterated his demand in a tweet that "only the people of Russia can solve this problem."
"Is this a Brutus in Russia?"The senator asked, referring to a Roman assassin of Julius Caesar. The former presidential candidate alsosaid that there were successful journals in the Russian army like "Colonel Stauffenberg". "You can do great service to your country and the world," he said.The senator, who has served in Congress for morethan 20 years and has been a close ally of Donald Trump's government, has visited Russia. Ukraine passed a resolution on the first day of the war condemning the Russian president and his military commanders for committing "war crimes" and calling their actions crimes against humanity.
